Engagement

Public engagement at MSCL includes conferences, workshops, and community events that promote dialogue between science and society. Conference formats are designed to facilitate exchanges between science communication practice and research, as well as to advance discussions on Planetary Health. We prioritize co-creation and participatory methods to ensure that science communication is inclusive and resonates with diverse audiences. Our mission is to make scientific knowledge, particularly in Planetary Health, accessible and relevant to everyone.

Media Service for Journalists

In collaboration with the foundation “Gesunde Erde – Gesunde Menschen” (GEGM) created by Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen, the MSCL evaluated the GEGM media service on climate and health. This service provides scientific evidence, expert assessments, and practical tips in seven thematic dossiers to support journalists in producing constructive and localised reporting.

Public Health Filmfestival

In partnership with the LMU Chair of Public Health and Health Services Research, the MSCL organised and evaluated the Public Health Filmfestival, where films on public, global, and planetary health are screened and discussed with experts. This festival aims to increase the visibility of public health and foster interdisciplinary networking. Additionally, through our “Heat Workshops”, an iterative workshop format was developed to empower neighbourhoods in preparing for heatwaves via participatory health communication. These workshops were piloted in three neighbourhoods, receiving enthusiastic feedback from the local civil societies.
